• Some training sessions are stars and some are stones, but they are all rocks and we build our walls with them!
  • The only race pace is suicide pace and today seems like a good day to die!
  • The only one who can tell you 'you can't' is you. And you don't have to listen!
  • If you cant win make the guy in front of you break the record!
  • You can keep going and your legs might hurt for a week or you can quit and your mind will hurt for a lifetime!
  • I don’t stop when I’m tired I stop when I’m done!

I am a 45 year old airport firefighter. I am married to Johanna and I have two daughters Anna & Lucy (my main support network). I come from a running background and epresented Lancashire and Great Britain as a schoolboy. I lost my way a little, late in my school years due to losing my father in a works accident, he was my biggest supporter and without him the whole thing seemed pointless. This is probably my biggest mistake but I'm not one to wonder what if!! I am pretty new to the sport of Triathlon as I begin my fifth year in the sport. Unwittingly I have been training for the bike for 12 years by biking the 40 mile round trip to work and back. I got into the sport after a chance meeting with my old running buddy/partner in crime Lee Kieran, when, over a meal he told me all about this mad event called the Ironman. I went to watch Lee race in 2009 in Bolton. I have never had a sporting event hit me so hard.
