• Some training sessions are stars and some are stones, but they are all rocks and we build our walls with them!
  • The only race pace is suicide pace and today seems like a good day to die!
  • The only one who can tell you 'you can't' is you. And you don't have to listen!
  • If you cant win make the guy in front of you break the record!
  • You can keep going and your legs might hurt for a week or you can quit and your mind will hurt for a lifetime!
  • I don’t stop when I’m tired I stop when I’m done!

Adam Critchley

Name: Adam Critchley

Age: 40

Profession: Project manager

I am married to Emma and have two children Katie (12) and Emily (8).

My sporting background is football, having previously played at Preston North End, Chester, Halifax and Chorley FC. I started running for Chorley Harriers in 2006 after finishing playing football. Whilst at the club I soon got introduced to triathlon when Ironman UK rolled into Bolton in 2009.

Chorley Harriers introduced me to fell running which is my favourite sport however I do enjoy the multi discipline sport of triathlon.

My weakest discipline is swimming...(I swim like a brick and wish I had done more swimming when I was younger!!!)

My strongest discipline is running however I am trying to work more on bike strength and speed this year.

Since taking up the sport of triathlon I have made some great friends. We now have a very large network of triathletes in and around the Chorley area and there is always someone to train with or get advice from if needed. My mates are constantly raising the bar and some of their achievements over the last few years have been very inspiring. It's good to have friends so committed to the sport.

I am very lucky to have a family that understands my passion for sport and their support over the years at races (and training) has been brilliant.

Favourite quote:
Life is short, break the rules,
Forgive quickly, kiss slowly,
Love truly, laugh uncontrollably,
And never regret anything that made you smile.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
